How Our Stage Cigarette Prop System Works

The Two Main Components

The Stage Props system consists of two simple components designed for repeated professional use.

Rechargeable Battery (Reusable)

The rechargeable battery forms the base of the prop and powers the system. It is designed to be used repeatedly throughout rehearsals, performances and filming.

Replaceable Filter (Consumable)

The replaceable filter attaches securely to the battery and creates the visible smoking effect. When the filter reaches the end of its lifespan, it is simply replaced while the battery continues to be used.

This combination makes the system both economical and practical for professional productions.

How the System Creates the Effect

The Stage Props system has been designed to be intuitive and easy to use.

There are no buttons, menus or settings.

When the performer uses the prop, it activates automatically and produces a visible effect. For the intended visible stage effect, Stage Props recommends one short, controlled draw of no more than two seconds. The effect can be produced by drawing into the mouth and then exhaling. Inhalation into the lungs is not required to produce the effect.

This allows performers to:

• Hold the prop naturally.
• Time smoking actions accurately within dialogue.
• Create a consistent visible exhale for both audiences and cameras.

Battery lifespan is approximately 250 charge cycles under normal operating conditions. Actual lifespan may vary depending on frequency of use, charging method, storage and ambient conditions. Battery capacity will gradually decrease over time.

Performance: Fixed output provides stable and consistent performance throughout rehearsals, performances and filming.

The system is ready in just a few seconds.

Replacing Components

Replace the Filter

The filter is the consumable part of the system and should be replaced regularly.

For hygiene reasons, we recommend using a new filter for each performer and, whenever practical, for each production or performance.

Reuse the Battery

As a guide, approximately 250 charging cycles under normal use and charging conditions. Actual service life depends on use, charging conditions, temperature and storage, and capacity will gradually decrease over time.

Filter Lifespan

Each filter provides approximately 200–300 short draws, depending primarily on draw duration and individual usage. Stage Props recommends short, controlled draws of no more than two seconds.

In professional productions, we recommend replacing the filter before each performance to ensure optimum hygiene, consistent performance and the best possible visual effect. Under normal use, a single filter is typically sufficient for rehearsals leading up to a performance.

Care and Handling

To ensure reliable performance and long service life:

• Store all components safely during transport.
• Keep all threaded connections clean and free from dust.
• Do not overtighten the filter when attaching it to the battery.
• Do not overtighten the USB charger during charging.
• Tighten components only until they are secure. Excessive force may damage internal components.
